TARTALOVE

We parked the Van in the port of Manfredonia and got in touch with Giovanni who works for a turtle rescue project: Tartalove. He is involved in cleaning the seabed and maintaining contact with the fishermen.

He has developed a fishing net where the turtles can escape without harming the catch of fish. The sea turtles that are rescued regularly have pieces of plastic in their stomachs. The most common is the cotton swab. Giovanni said that most plastic comes from household waste, people throw a lot of plastic in the toilet which end up in the sea. We visited the rescue center with him. Super interesting and it motivates us to continue our actions. Every little bit helps!
